Gladkov Studios Profile
Gladkov Studios specializes in high quality murals, Venetian plasters, gilding and faux finishes, metallic effects and metal patinas, antique furniture restoration, and fine furniture finishing.
The Studio was opened in 1997 by Vasily Gladkov.
Vasily received his formal art training in Russia. His
first “commercial” art experience was in the Russian
Army, where he was drafted and served for two years. As
a full-time artist, his duties included painting
large-scale murals, posters, military illustrations and
photo-realistic portraits.
After completion of service, Vasily decided to pursue
his second passion – Russian History. Vasily graduated
from Rostov-on-Don University with a Masters degree in
History, and he continued to work towards his PhD, but
in 1990 he decided to immigrate to Germany. Working in
Andernach Stadtmuseum, he participated in setting up
exhibitions, and did drawings for archaeological
publications “Andernacher Beitrage” and “Pellenz
Museum”.
In 1992, Vasily left Germany and moved to the United
States. In Los Angeles, Vasily applied his painting
skills, working for various design studios, painting
ceramics, movie sets, murals, furniture, and he worked
in a cabinet shop as a wood finisher. In 1997 he opened
his studio, specializing in murals and decorative
finishes.
Sergio Garcia, master painter and finisher, joined the
Studio in 2000. He supervises most of the projects from
start to finish.
Since 2000 the company has a full-time crew of
artisans, who work in Studio, located in Los Angeles,
and on jobsites mostly in Los Angeles, Ventura and
Orange counties. Throughout the years Gladkov Studios
maintains a reputation of a company with high quality
workmanship and creative excellence.
